Privacy Policy
Last revised: July 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the VideoMate browser extension, visit videomate.app, purchase or manage a license, or contact support (together, the "Service").
Media Processing
VideoMate detects media made available to your browser and processes, merges, and saves selected media locally on your device. We do not receive or store the videos, audio, stream contents, downloaded files, or a history of the media you download through the extension.
To perform these functions, the extension may read information from the page you are viewing and media requests made by that page. This information is used locally for stream detection and processing and is not uploaded to us as part of the download process.
Information We Process
Depending on how you use the Service, we process:
- Purchase and license information: your email address, plan type, payment or subscription reference, transaction status, license key, license status, creation and expiration dates, and an activation identifier;
- Payment information: our payment processor collects the billing and payment details needed to complete a purchase. We receive transaction details and status, but we do not receive or store your full card number;
- Support information: your email address and the content and attachments you choose to send when requesting help; and
- Basic technical information: our hosting and security providers may process standard request information such as IP address, browser or device type, timestamps, requested pages or API routes, and error or security logs.
The Service does not require a VideoMate account, username, or password. Do not send us passwords or payment-card details in a support request.
License Validation and Local Storage
Paid features send your license key and activation identifier to our license service to activate, validate, or deactivate a license. The extension may store your license information and preferences locally in your browser so that paid features work between sessions. You can remove extension-held data by removing the extension or clearing its stored data through your browser.
Cookies and Analytics
We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers on the VideoMate website, and we do not use cookies to track your download activity. A payment provider, browser extension store, or other third-party site you visit may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- complete purchases and manage subscriptions and refunds;
- issue, activate, validate, and protect license keys;
- provide support and respond to your requests;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service; and
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations.
We do not sell your personal information or use your download activity for targeted advertising.
How Information Is Shared
We share information only as needed with:
- payment providers to handle checkout, billing, subscriptions, portals, and refunds;
- infrastructure providers, including Google Cloud Firestore for license records and the providers that host and secure the website and APIs;
- browser and extension stores when you obtain or update the extension through their services;
- authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or enforce our terms; and
- a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate protections.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and may operate in countries other than yours.
Retention
We retain purchase and license records for as long as needed to provide the license, manage billing, prevent abuse, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Support communications are kept as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain service records. Technical logs are retained according to the applicable hosting or security provider's retention settings. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed, unless the law requires longer retention.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your license key private because it provides access to paid features.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. To make a request, contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where required or permitted by law.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy here and revise the date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when reasonably required.
